OUTBOUND EXCHANGE DESTINATIONSWhere can I go?Exchanges can occur between any two countries in which there are Rotary clubs. Rotary clubs in approximately 60 different countries annually sponsor or host Youth Exchange students. A thorough orientation program for students and their parents is provided by the sponsoring Rotary club. And the host Rotary club provides support and guidance on the receiving end of the exchange. Each Rotary District has exchange relationships with a certain group of countries. They also have a list of Rotary District Youth Exchange Officers (YEO) in every country worldwide that conducts exchanges. Your range of choices depends a lot on the timing of your application. The earlier you get it in before the deadline, the more time your YEO has to establish new relationships with other YEOs not previously exchanged with. Also, the number of exchanges with most countries is limited and those who apply first usually have preference. If you apply near the deadline, your choices may be limited. The bottom line is, you will have more choice of countries the earlier you apply. To find out which countries have Rotary International Youth Exchange Programs, check out the following links:
Any country with a RYE or ROTEX web site has a program. If you don't find the country you are interested in, Contact your Rotary District Youth Exchange Officer to see if it is on the YEO country list. There are lots of resources on the Internet to learn about possible destinations. A good place to start is Embassy World. If you're still interested, please take the time to learn more about Rotary Youth Exchange or visit our contacts page to find a Rotary Youth Exchange contact near you for more information. |
